Apple has surprised everyone with a fresh announcement to construct a new base in Austin, Texas, which will require an investment of £790m or $1bn.
The technology giant already has its existing base in Austin, Texas, and this new office campus will make the company the biggest private employer in the state’s capital.
Presently, Apple already manages a workforce of 6,200 people at its existing facilities across Austin, which makes it the firm’s biggest outdoor base from its home in California's Silicon Valley.
With this recent announcement, Apple also confirmed that it is planning new sites that will be set up in Seattle, Culver City, and San Diego under the next three years. This news comes after an early commitment delivered in January to create 20,000 new jobs across the United States by the end of 2023.
At the national level, Apple employs close to 90,000 people that includes the staff working at its retail outlets.
Quite recently, the president of U.S. Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs on iPhones as well as other Apple products which were being created in China, primarily due to the trade rift with Beijing.
However, this broadcast has indeed worked in favor of the iPhone-maker and plans are underway for a bigger and better campus.
