Amid leaked images and specifications, Samsung finally announces the first major launch of the smartphone after the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.
Samsung has announced that Galaxy S8 smartphone will be launched next month in a dedicated event which will also be live-streamed on the company’s website.
Samsung passed a press invite, "On March 29, Samsung Electronics will unveil the newest Galaxy as part of its endeavor to unbox your phone."
Recently Samsung announced that it would not be launching any new smartphone at the MWC 2017. The South Korean company usually launch several smartphones under the Galaxy brand at the MWC. But after the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, Samsung is taking its time for a new launch.
The invite also said, "The forthcoming addition to the Galaxy line-up represents the start of a new era, by reshaping the device that has over the years become an indispensable tool in our everyday lives."
According to a report based on leaks, Galaxy Note 7 is expected to run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with 6GB of RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage which is expandable with a microSD card up to 128 GB. Samsung is also adding a new AI assistant called Bixby, which will also work with native apps. It is expected to sport a 3250mAh battery.
A photo that surfaced online showed that the latest Samsung smartphone does not have a home button on the front panel.
Galaxy S8 is expected to have some features similar to LG’s G6 like high screen-to-body ratio, wireless charging and waterproof design. In order to make the smartphone safer Galaxy S8 will go through a long and more exhaustive battery-testing procedure.
To compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S8, LG has come up with G6.TCL Communication has also launched a new model of BlackBerry running on android with a physical keyboard.
