spicejet set to buy 100 new max 737 planes from boeing

India’s fourth largest airline company, SpiceJet Airline, has agreed to purchase 100 new MAX 737, a narrow-body jetliner fleet developed by Boeing.

This latest agreement between SpiceJet and Boeing Co. is marked as the largest commercial airliner deal for Boeing in India. The transaction includes a firm order for 100 new aircrafts, 55 from an earlier deal and the right to purchase a further count of 55 jets.

According to the Indian budget carrier, this newly signed agreement is a part of its expansion planes in the world’s fastest rising aviation market.

India, a vast South Asian country, is set to become the world’s third largest aviation market by 2020, which makes it vital for both Boeing Co. and its rival, Airbus Group.

During a press conference in New Delhi, the Chairman of SpiceJet Ajay Singh said, as part of this deal Boeing Co. have not only been kind enough to give SpiceJet good commercial terms but have worked hard to decrease the maintenance budget of the fleet going forward.

Mr. Singh further added that, this is the biggest deal for SpiceJet as well as for Boeing in India.

The airline company is now in a very good position to enlarge its operation and network which includes both international and domestic routes and destinations.

The number of persons hovering domestic routes rose by 21% in 2016. This progress in passenger numbers, along with lesser fuel costs, has facilitated several major carriers in the nation to make a good profit.

Boeing Co. announced the first fleet of the Max 737 aircrafts would be supplied to SpiceJet Airline in 2018.

Boeing 737 MAX is a narrow-body jetliner fleet, which was manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes as the replacement to the Boeing 737 Next Generation Series.
